Gatherings Should Be Limited to 10 People, Trump Says
The Trump administration advised on Monday that gatherings should be restricted to less than 10 people to avoid the continued spread of coronavirus.
The guidelines included the recommended closing of schools, bars and restaurants, according to The New York Times. The directive will be in place for the next 15 days.
“It seems to me if we do a really good job, we’ll not only hold the death down to a level that’s much lower than the other way had we not done a good job, but people are talking about July, August,” Trump said.
“If everyone makes this change or these critical changes and sacrifices now,” Mr. Trump said, “we will rally together as one nation and we will defeat the virus and we’re going to have a big celebration all together.”
The Trump administration’s recommendations went a step further, at least in the short term, than those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday, which strongly recommended no gatherings of 50 people or more in the U.S. for the next eight weeks to slow the transmission of coronavirus.
