Digital Media Startup Secures $5 Million

Descript secured $5 million in financing from Andreessen Horowitz.

Descript is an audio word processing platform that enables editors and producers to edit sound files while a writer edits its lyrics. It offers podcasters, journalists, and musicians the ability to edit single-track audio clips as easily as they would edit words in a word processing document. Descript uses Google Speech to ensure users get state-of-the-art transcription accuracy. Audio is synced to text, so users can always hear the sound beneath the words and search audio by searching text.
