Oath, a media publishing subsidiary of Verizon, announced the launch of a global board of advisors comprised of influential leaders from multiple industries that include finance, sports, lifestyle, and news. Serena Williams is the founding chairwoman of Oath’s board of advisors, and will be joined by founding members Russell Wilson, Tamika Catchings, Ciara, Chuck D, Rickie Fowler, Carla Harris, Karlie Kloss, Joey Logano, Zac Posen, Abby Wambach, and Regina Wilson.
This group will share their brand expertise with Oath leadership and have access to Oath’s iconic brands, including HuffPost, Yahoo Finance, RYOT, Tumblr, MAKERS, Yahoo Sports, and Yahoo Lifestyle, as well as its global user base to build content relevant to their passion issues. In addition, Oath’s philanthropic and social impact arm, Oath for Good, will provide significant financial and volunteer contributions to the causes of their choice. For example, Oath for Good will support The William Sisters Fund in its goal to connect residents affected by violence with service providers at the Yetunde Price Resource Center, as well as Carla Harris in her efforts to empower underserved and underrepresented communities through education. “I am on a continuous mission to challenge myself and others to take big risks,” said Serena Williams. “Serving as the chairwoman of Oath’s board of advisors allows me to bring to life my goal of standing for inclusion – whether for black people in tennis, women in Silicon Valley, or creating clothes that fit every body type.
