Chia is an eco-friendly cryptocurrency that aims to harness cheap, abundant, unused storage space on hard drives to verify transactions on the blockchain, resulting in a cryptocurrency that’s less wasteful, more decentralized, and more secure. The makers plan to sell Chia to the public in 2018.
Chia was developed by CEO Bram Cohen, who famously invented BitTorrent, as well as team members from Tradehill, CryptoCorp, and Lightning Labs.
