PeerStreet, an online platform for investing in real estate-backed loans, announced the appointment of Louis Nees as head of capital markets.

Nees brings more than 30 years of experience to PeerStreet. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Fairlead Management, a consulting services company specializing in business strategy, corporate growth, and innovation. He also served as CEO of Walter Capital Opportunity, a private real estate investment trust (REIT). Previous positions include senior vice president of Global Capital Markets for Ally Financial, managing director of JP Morgan’s mortgage credit derivative trading desk and senior vice president of Capital Markets at GMAC Mortgage.

“We’re delighted to have Louis join our team. PeerStreet has been experiencing tremendous growth and is quickly expanding our investor base and product offering — we look forward to Louis’ deep expertise as we hit new milestones,” said Brew Johnson, chief executive officer of PeerStreet. “Louis will be important in helping PeerStreet transact with an increasingly large pool of customer types.”
