Occipital Buys Paracosm for Undisclosed Sum

Three-dimensional (3D) technology company Occipital announced it has acquired software startup Paracosm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Paracosm, founded in 2013, develops mobile 3D scanning, progress monitoring, and visualization solutions to help construction teams build faster. With quick and easy scanning, job sites can be captured daily or weekly to gain insights into projects and prevent rework. The startup had previously raised $5.7 million from investors including Atlas Venture and Osage University Partners.
]The acquisition of Paracosm’s teams and technologies allows Occipital to apply its SLAM platform to items ranging from a single-camera smartphone to sophisticated LiDAR-based systems like PX-80.
