New Product Alert: Uber Sign Language

The latest Uber feature Uber Sign Language allows users to start a conversation in American Sign Language (ASL) by teaching them how to sign simple phrases for better communication with drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing. Riders tap a special card that appears in the Uber feed to be taken to a page where they can select such basics as “Hello,” and “Thank you,” or spell out their name. They’ll then be given a GIF with the word(s) in ASL.

According to Uber, the move is to celebrate National Deaf Awareness Month.
