Electronics Startup Consumer Physics Raises $22.3 Million

According to a recent SEC filing, Consumer Physics raised $17.4 million in financing from an undisclosed investor.
Consumer Physics is an Israel-based startup whose platform enables businesses and third-party developers to design their own molecular sensing models and mobile applications for personal and commercial use. The company is building a pocket spectrometer for smartphones, which enables a variety of consumer apps using SCiO – “the world’s smallest, most affordable near infrared (NIR) spectrometer.” The SCiO sensor pairs with the apps and connects to a cloud-based database of material fingerprints.
