edX.org, the leading nonprofit online learning destination founded by Harvard and MIT, announced the appointment of Adam Medros as the company’s president and chief operating officer.

In this role, Medros will assume the day-to-day management and oversight of edX’s operations, contribute to edX’s strategy and growth, and report to Anant Agarwal, edX chief operating officer.

Before TripAdvisor, Medros worked in product management and finance at Amazon and as a business analyst for Nordstrom’s ecommerce business.

“We are delighted to welcome Adam to the edX team and we are confident that he will bring strong, strategic and operational thinking to the organization,” said Agarwal, edX chief executive officer and Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor. “Adam’s expertise in driving successful online businesses and pioneering platform products will be instrumental in ensuring growth and rapid innovation at edX, as we work toward our mission of increasing access to education for everyone, everywhere.”

Medros received his BA in Economics and German with Honors from Dartmouth College, and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
