Delphi Automotive Acquires nuTonomy for $450 Million
Vehicle technology supplier Delphi Automotive announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire nuTonomy, Inc. for an upfront purchase price of $400 million and earn-outs totaling approximately $50 million.
nuTonomy is a leading developer of state-of-the-art software for self-driving vehicles. It was founded in 2013 by two world-renowned experts in robotics and intelligent vehicle technology. According to the company, it is developing the “first-of-its-kind complete solution for providing point-to-point mobility via large fleets of autonomous vehicles,” which includes software for autonomous vehicle navigation in urban environments, smartphone-based ride hailing, fleet routing and management, and controlling a vehicle remotely through teleoperation.
The startup had previously raised $19.6 million from investors including Highland Capital.
