IT and networking giant Cisco announced its intent to acquire machine learning and data analytics startup Perspica. Cisco anticipates the acquisition will close in the second quarter of its fiscal year 2018, following the customary closing conditions.

Perspica, founded in 2014, aims to help companies keep critical applications and infrastructure running at desired service levels by providing heuristic anomaly detection, automated troubleshooting, and actionable recommendations through deep learning and advanced analytics. Perspica preempts incidents using predictive analytics, and it uses Incident Replay™, a “time machine” for the data that is vital for real-time and post-mortem analysis. The startup had previously raised $8.5 million.

According to Rob Salvagno, Cisco’s vice president of corporate development, “Today’s announcement is an exciting step in our machine learning capabilities, and allows us to continue to deliver our vision for helping companies with the future of digital business.”
