Sema4, a health information company providing advanced genomic testing, today announced the appointment of Jamie Coffin, Ph.D., as president and chief operating officer.

Prior to joining Sema4, Coffin was CEO of Source Medical Solutions, Inc., a top provider of practice management and electronic medical record solutions for the ambulatory surgical space. In his previous role, as worldwide vice president, general manager, and global practice lead at Dell’s Healthcare and Life Sciences group, Coffin’s efforts drove Dell from being a small player in healthcare to the top healthcare IT company in the world. Coffin began his career at IBM, where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately becoming worldwide vice president of IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences. Dr. Coffin holds a Ph.D. in computational chemistry from the University of Arkansas.

“Jamie has an extensive background of leadership in the healthcare and life sciences sector and a tremendous track record of success at building top health IT services businesses,” said Eric Schadt, Ph.D., CEO of Sema4. “Jamie brings to Sema4 the exact skills we need to rapidly scale and expand our business nationwide and achieve our vision of helping patients, clinicians, and researchers to better diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. I am very pleased to welcome him to the Sema4 team.”
