Onfido Brings In $30 Million

Security startup Onfido completed $30 million in Series C financing, led by Crane Venture Partners. Microsoft Ventures and Salesforce Ventures also participated.

Using machine learning technology, Onfido validates users’ identity documents and connects them with owners’ facial biometrics. The identities can then be cross-referenced against international credit and watchlist databases. According the company, Onfido is used by more than 1,500 businesses to offer identity verification solution to their customers.

The company revealed that the new funding will primarily be channeled into research and development in machine learning technology, as well as to meet increasing customer demand in the U.S. and other international markets.
