New Product Alert: StolenCameraFinder

StolenCameraFinder helps users find their missing cameras. Every photo taken with a digital camera contains hidden information about both the image and the camera, including the make and model of the camera and the date of the photo. That information, called exif data, can also include unique serial numbers that identify individual cameras.

StolenCameraFinder crawls the Internet searching for photos, collecting serial numbers of the cameras that took them. When people use the app’s drag and drop feature, StolenCameraFinder reads the unique serial numbers from the exif data of their photos and uses it to match against serial numbers it has stored. In addition to being able to search the Internet for cameras using exif data, StolenCameraFinder has a massive registry of lost, stolen, and found cameras. Users can search the registry or create their own reports for free.

StolenCameraFinder was the brainchild of Matt Burns.
