New Product Alert: Progressive Punctuation

Progressive Punctuation is a humorous collection of non-standard punctuation marks.

Progressive Punctuation is a humorous collection of non-standard punctuation marks. For instance, irony is a lost punctuation mark invented by Marcellin Jobard in 1841 in Brussels. According to Jobard, it is an “extra emotional typographic character.” Placed at the beginning of the sentence, the punctuation mark is intended to indicate a state of affairs contrary to what one expects.

According to the makers, Progressive Punctuation is part of a growing movement focused on effective written communication. By increasing awareness of unused punctuation marks, the founders of the product hope to begin a discussion about the present and future states of writing, with the goal of eventually integrating the marks into our language, ending misunderstandings and misinterpretations once and for all.
