Western Digital Announces Acquisition of Upthere

Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ: WDC) announced today that it has completed the asset acquisition of Upthere, a leading cloud services company. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2011, Upthere aims to transform personal storage by providing a new and better way to keep, find, and share what’s important and meaningful. It provides an enhanced storage experience designed to be the one home for photos, videos, documents, and music. Upthere is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, as well as Mac OS and Windows PCs.

Prior to the exit, Upthere has raised $77 million in venture capital financing from investors that include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, GV, and Western Digital Capital.
