Edtech startup Vidcode closed $1.5 million in seed financing. Seven investors participated in the round: Y Combinator, ZhenFund, Rethink Education, NYU Innovation Fund, CoVenture, Investor and Cherry Ventures.

Vidcode is an award-winning software that teaches students computer programming through video-making. The company’s unique project-oriented lessons allow students to create memes, video filters, interactive games, and virtual reality with real programming languages. Vidcode also offers full semester coding courses that prepare students for AP computer science classes.

In its announcement, the company said the team plans to use the new funds to extend sales through strategic partnerships and to expand its curriculum into newer areas like AR and VR, as well as into more advanced coding.
