Paris-based startup Side announced the completion of $5.7 million in financing. Four investors participated in the funding, among them Agla Ventures and Connect Ventures.

Side (formerly WeSlash), is the first European staffing-as-a-service company. When businesses need an extra pair of hands for a few hours or a few weeks, Side provides them with temp workers matched to their criteria, including skill set, location, etc. Freelancers, or “Siders,” are able to help with services from data entry and market research to event management, content creation, photography, customer support, office management, and others.

Side helps businesses manage the entire freelancer recruitment process, from profile pre-selection to making the initial contact and automating the administrative process. More than 400 companies, including Uber, Soundcloud, and Stripe, are enterprise users of Side’s platform.

In its announcement, the company said Side plans to begin operations in new cities in France and the U.K., and to improve the structure of the marketplace.
