Lightbend is dedicated to helping developers build reactive applications on the JVM (JAVA Virtual Machine). Using the Lightbend platform, developers can create message-driven applications that scale on multicore and cloud computing architectures by using programs like Lagom, Play Framework, Akka, Scala, Java, and Apache Spark. To help customers use their technology successfully, Lightbend partners with technology pioneers, including Databricks, IBM, and Mesosphere.
According to the company, the strategic investment includes a collaboration in which IBM and Lightbend will create new code, tools, and documentation to help developers build JAVA and SCALA applications on the Lightbend reactive platform. The company is also expected to integrate IBM Websphere and key offerings across the IBM cloud.
