Advanced materials startup Light Polymers announced it has raised $5 million in Series B financing. Three investors participated in the round, among them Tsing Capital and TEL Venture Capital.

Light Polymers is an advanced polymers and materials company that uses chemistry based on high refractive index lyotropic liquid crystals. These lyotropic liquid crystal materials provide innovative, single layer, coatable polarizers either on substrates or directly on cells, eliminating the substrate using industry standard production processes. The result is a low-cost, easy-to-make, high-brightness polarizer that meets market standards for ultra-high-resolution displays.

The company revealed that the proceeds from the Series B round will be used for strategic projects and a related acquisition that will be announced soon.
