Stash announced it has raised $40 million in Series C financing. Four investors contributed to the round: Coatue Management, Breyer Capital, Goodwater Capital, and Valar Ventures.

Stash is a platform that makes it easy for anyone to begin investing with as little as $5. Users sign up on an app and choose from a selection of curated investments. They can subsequently make additional investments whenever they like or make automatic recurring investments by setting up Auto-Stash — a virtual advisor that will help guide them throughout the process with advice and support. Stash aims to encourage investors to build good financial habits for life. Unlike purely automated alternatives, Stash empowers investors to reflect on their ideas and priorities, to share ideas with friends, and to build their own portfolios.

In its announcement, the company said the latest round will accelerate Stash’s investments in technology and data analytics, the better to serve its growing community of investors with more personalization, educational tools, and new products.
