Wireless Startup Samsara Raises $40 Million
Samsara completed $40 million in Series C financing. General Catalyst Partners and Andreessen Horowitz participated in the round.
Samsara’s mission is to disrupt the traditional sensor model with an integrated, software-centric solution. It builds sensor systems that combine wireless sensors with remote networking and cloud-based analytics – all in an easy-to-use, software-centric solution. The company believes that by making sensors simple to deploy and their data easy to consume customers will be able to deploy them by the thousands in places they’ve never been used before. Samsara was started by the founders of Meraki, the cloud-managed networking company that was acquired by Cisco for $1.2 billion.
According to the company, the new financing will be invested in long-term technology development to explore new applications for the Samsara platform.
