Software startup Souktel completed $1.2 million in financing from an undisclosed investor.

Souktel is the Middle East’s first platform connecting job-seekers with employers and communities with aid via mobile phone. Since its start in 2006, close to 20,000 workers and hundreds of companies have signed up for mobile JobMatch services, and Souktel has linked thousands of young people with jobs and training. Meanwhile, more than 20 leading aid agencies, from the Red Cross to Unicef, actively use Souktel’s mobile AidLink services to get key information to and from communities in crisis. The company’s made-in-Palestine technology is used in more than 15 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, with new locations and services added each month.
