Pocket Gems Raises $90 Million

Gaming company Pocket Gems announced it has secured $90 million in new financing. Tencent Holdings and Sequoia Capital participated in the round.

Pocket Gems, a pioneer of the shift of social games to mobile, developed a series of phenomenally successful free-to-play mobile games that have been downloaded more than 15 million times.

The company said the current funding round will be spent to scale its business and significantly increase staff from its current total of 220 people.
