Fashion Luggage Company Away Secures $20 Million

Travel accessories startup Away announced it has secured $20 million in Series B financing. Four investors contributed to the round: Global Founders Capital, Forerunner Ventures, Comcast Ventures, and Accel Partners.

Away produces ”thoughtful luggage” — featuring unbreakable shells, interior compartments, and built-in USB chargers — using what the company claims are the best materials in the world. The result is luggage that aims to be beautifully, functionally minimal.

According to the company, the influx of cash brings Away to a total of $31 million raised and will fund its entry into retail with plans to open four to six retail stores. Away also seeks to become a lifestyle brand with a new podcast and a forthcoming print and digital magazine.
