Digital Media Startup Truepic Raises $2 Million

Truepic announced it has secured $2 million in seed financing. Four investors contributed to the round, including Thomson Reuters.

Truepic has developed an online image and video authentication platform designed for companies in the beauty, healthcare, insurance, and other sectors. As 1.8 billion smartphone photos are uploaded to the internet every day, TRUEPIC certifies those that are authentic, unaltered, and trustworthy.

In its announcement, the company said the money will go toward hiring, its public launch, and a ramped-up sales effort.
