Beep Boop, a developer platform that enables the creation of custom-designed bots for messaging apps, today announced that it will focus exclusively on developing technology that supports Slack integrations. The company said the move is in response to Slack’s explosive growth in the enterprise communications space.

“Slack is more than a messaging app for teams; it’s a human-first operating system that is a hub of collaboration between people, data and systems,” said Mike Brevoort, founder and CTO of Beep Boop, in an official announcement. “There is tremendous potential to leverage Slack as an application development platform to create custom, lightweight workflows in organizations to efficiently tie together multiple data sources, events and human interactions in context.”

Beep Boop allows organizations to customize their corporate Slack streams with bot integrations to improve workflow efficiencies and streamline information management. For instance, one can design a chatbot that returns information on “progress of project X” or “sales data of 2016” by running a quick query on your earlier Slack message with colleagues. The Beep Boop platform also enables automatic deployment so developers don’t have to re-upload bots to the Slack system every time they make changes or updates, allowing them to  focus on creating great user experience.

“For companies that aren’t finding what they need with off-the-shelf bot or integration products, Beep Boop offers the support and infrastructure to create transformative, tailored software,” said Brevoort. “We hope to become the go-to custom Slack integration platform for the enterprise.”

Beep Boop was founded in 2015 as an internal venture by Mike Brevoort, CTO of Robots and Pencils, a Canadian mobile strategy and app development firm.

“Though it’s early days, there has been an explosion of interest in bots by messaging platforms and early adopters,” said Brevoort in an exclusive interview with NewsCenter.io at #MobileBeat2016. “There are multiple factors driving this including the rise of messaging usage, the chasing of the millennial populous by brands, the explosion of investment and innovation in NLP and AI, and the inherent need for a new ‘app’ frontier beyond apps. The verdict is still out on whether consumers will come to demand these experiences but this has all the makings of a huge shift.”
