3D mapping and localization technology startup Lvl5 Raises $2 Million

Lvl5 announced the completion of $2 million in seed financing from investor Paul Buchheit and 9Point Ventures.

Lvl5 uses computer vision to create high-resolution mapping and localization services for autonomous vehicles and robots. Founded in 2016 by Andrew Kouri and Erik Reed, both former Tesla engineers, and George Tall, a computer vision engineer from iRobot, Lvl5 has developed a way to take enormous amounts of video collected from cameras and turn it into high-definition 3D maps that are constantly refreshing. Such maps will always reflect the latest road conditions, providing self-driving cars with information they need to detect and plan their routes safely.
