ScyllaDB, a database-as-a-service (DBaaS) company, closed a $10 million Series C funding round led by TLV Partners. Previous investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Qualcomm Ventures, Magma Venture Partners, and Western Digital also participated in the round.

According to the company, Scylla is an open source drop-in replacement for Apache Cassandra with a unique, close-to-the-hardware design that delivers scale-up performance of 1,000,000 IOPS per node, scaled out to hundreds of nodes, and a ninety-nine percent tail latency of less than one msec. As a result, Scylla users can reduce their hardware resources, lowering both the total cost of ownership and the complexity of their systems.

ScyllaDB plans to use the additional financing to help accelerate its entry into the DBaaS market by leveraging the early success of the Scylla open source database and the company’s acquisition of DBaaS intellectual property in 2017.
