BRD, a bitcoin and cryptocurrency mobile wallet used in 170 countries, secured $32 million from a combination of venture capital funding and a crowdsale. Existing investor East Ventures was involved in the round.

According to the company, by using BRD to trade cryptocurrencies, consumers no longer need to take the risk of using exchanges, many of which have been hacked or compromised over the past five years. BRD also announced the availability of its “Augustus” release, which is designed to enable receiving, sending, and buying of ERC20 tokens through a partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Changelly.

The new funds will enable BRD to scale its technology platform, expand its engineering and business development team at its new offices in Chicago, Bend, and Tokyo and bring a broad ecosystem of bitcoin and cryptocurrency services to more global consumers.
