Edovo, a Chicago-based social impact startup focused on prison and jail education and communication, closed their A-3 raise with more than $9 million in funding from social impact investment groups Impact Engine, Lumina Foundation, SustainVC , IDP Foundation, Evolve.Foundation, Kapor Capital, and Ekistic Ventures.
The program is delivered through secure tablet technology to help the incarcerated population better prepare for release and reintegration into their communities. According to the company, Edovo doubled their reach in 2017, impacting more than 50,000 incarcerated individuals, and is on track for continued growth in 2018 and expansion into 22 states.
The company plans to use the additional funding to continue to scale its program to correctional facilities across the nation, and deliver improved educational opportunities and affordable communication services.
