India-based mobile health and fitness company HealthifyMe today announced the close of a $12 million Series B round led by Sistema Asia Fund. Silicon Valley-based Samsung NEXT, Singapore’s Atlas Asset Management and Japan’s Dream Incubator also participated, alongside existing investors IDG Ventures India, Inventus Capital, Blume Ventures and Dubai-based NB Ventures.
According to the company, HealthifyMe’s user base more than tripled in 2017, growing to four million, and the app is booking U.S. $4.5 million in annualized revenue. With more than one million monthly active users, the HealthifyMe mobile app is now being used in 200 cities around the world. Its users have tracked 200 million food items and workouts and exchanged ten million messages with their nutritionists and trainers. All of that data helped HealthifyMe build the world’s first AI nutritionist, “Ria,” which launched n late 2017 and is now guiding paying consumers alongside human nutritionists and trainers.
HealthifyMe intends to use the funding to expand into more markets in India and to begin offering health foods, diagnostics and insurance products in addition to its digital nutrition and fitness services portfolio.
