Wireless startup Sonim Technologies closed $37 million in financing from B. Riley Financial.

Sonim partnered with developers to provide a suite of workforce-critical mobile applications such as push-to-talk, lone worker safety services, mobile resource management, and time and attendance verification. According to the startup, its solutions enable companies to keep their workers safe, reduce corporate liability, and increase their efficiency by establishing team intelligence and accountability. Sonim also produces phones certified to operate in potentially explosive atmospheres, which are backed by a three-year comprehensive warranty that covers manufacturing defects, accidental damage, and embedded software.

The financing will be used in part to fund its public safety platform that will provide devices to first responders, as well as to repurchase stock from existing stockholders.
