Biogen Appoints SVP, Chief Information Officer

Biogen has named Mark Hernon as its new senior vice president, chief information officer.

Hernon’s 30 years of experience in IT and strategic leadership include work with Takeda Pharmaceuticals, where he was the regional CIO for the Americas and global head of R&D, QA and HR Systems, as well as vice president of operations for the Cambridge, Massachusetts, site. He also spent 12 years with Millennial Pharmaceuticals as CIO and vice president of operations, leading strategic initiatives to streamline the organization, aligning with the business, and managing the group’s transition through the acquisition by Takeda.

“With Mark’s years in industry successfully leading global IT and operations functions, we are extremely pleased to have him join us at Biogen,” said Executive Vice President, Chief Legal of Corporate Services and Secretary of Biogen Susan Alexander. “His experience and leadership, together with our existing excellent Biogen IT organization, will allow Biogen to continue creating and harnessing data and information to pioneer new developments in neuroscience.”

Hernon holds a B.S. and M.S. in industrial and management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.B.A. from the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
