Spot.IM Closes $25 Million

Digital media startup Spot.IM obtained $25 million in Series C financing, led by Insight Venture Partners, with participation from Altair VC and Norma Investments.

Founded in 2012 by Nadav Shoval and Ishay Green, Spot.IM’s mission is to foster connected, engaged communities across the Internet. By replacing “old-school comments” with “thriving communities,” the company aims to empower publishers to drive conversation, page views, clicks, and revenue. According to the company, it currently partners with 70 percent of the top U.S. publishers, including AOL.com, NBC, Time Inc., HuffPost, USA TODAY Sports, FOX News, AdAge, and Refinery29.

The financing will be used to fund Spot.IM’s global expansion, including doubling the size of its New York-based team, and for further investment in its publisher engagement platform.
