Elasticsearch Purchases Swiftype for Undisclosed Sum

Lucene-based search engine Elasticsearch announced it acquired software startup Swiftype. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Built on top of a highly refined search algorithm, Swiftype’s dashboard lets site owners deliver and control customizable search for their website or mobile app with just a few lines of code.

Headquartered in San Francisco, the startup has previously raised $23 million in funding from investors including New Enterprise Associates and Y Combinator. The company said AT&T, Shopify, SurveyMonkey, Dr. Pepper, publishers Engadget and TechCrunch, and brands such as Qualcomm, Asana, Marketo and Hubspot use Swiftype.
