Apple acquired semiconductor manufacturing startup InVisage Technologies, which produces quantum dot-based image sensors that enable the high-resolution images from handheld devices such as camera phones and PDAs.
The Menlo Park-based startup’s products are used in security and surveillance, automotive imaging, military and medical imaging applications, as well as mobile phone cameras, webcams, and digital still cameras.
InVisage Technologies previously raised $98 million from investors including Nokia Growth Partner, GGV Capital, and Intel Capital.
