Ceres Imaging, which specializes in spectral imaging technology to help farmers increase yields by more efficiently applying water and fertilizer, announced it has raised $2.5 million in Series A financing from Romulus Capital.

Ceres Imaging uses aerial imagery and spectral image processing to monitor crop variables such as plant nutrient and water content, as well as the presence of diseases, parasites, and weeds in crops. The company helps growers use this data to improve crop management practices like fertilizer application, irrigation schedules, stress/problem detection, and other applications. Currently, Ceres Imaging serves growers throughout California and Australia.

The firm plans to use the investment proceeds to bring its technology to more growers in Australia, California, and the U.S. Midwest, with a focus on accelerated product development for row and cereal crops.
