Cloud storage startup Minio announced it has raised $20 million in Series A financing, led by Dell Technologies Capital. General Catalyst Partners, Nexus Venture Partners, Intel Capital, and AME Cloud Ventures also participated in the offering.
Minio is a distributed object storage server, written in Go and open sourced under Apache License Version 2.0. Minio protects data against hardware failures using erasure code and bitrot detection, which means that developers may lose up to half the number of drives and still be able to recover from it. It also provides confidentiality, integrity and authenticity assurances for encrypted data, with negligible performance overhead.
In its announcement, the company said funding will be used to accelerate product development, and company growth.
