LED technology company Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) announced the appointment of Gregg Lowe as president and chief executive officer.
Before joining Cree, Lowe served as president and CEO of Freescale Semiconductor, a $5 billion company with 17,000 employees. Prior to that, he had a 28-year career at Texas Instruments, most recently serving as senior vice president and leader of the analog business.
“Gregg is an exceptional leader and a proven visionary in the semiconductor industry,” said Robert Ingram, board chairman of Cree. “We are proud that he has accepted the CEO position and is prepared to lead this innovative, technology-rich company into the future.”
Lowe holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and has completed the executive M.B.A. program at Stanford University. He is a recipient of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Career Achievement Award, honoring both his accomplishments in the semiconductor industry and his community service. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate of engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute in 2014.
