Edtech startup Tinkergarten announced it has raised $5.4 million in Series A financing from a wide group of investors that includes the Omidyar Network, Reach Capital, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, City Light Capital, Plum Alley Investments, 500 Startups, Structure Capital, Vista Ventures, and Outbound Ventures.
Tinkergarten is on a “mission to elevate childhood.” The company is creating a technology-enabled network of professionals who bring families in a community together for classes where kids learn through play. The goal is to build tight-knit groups of children and adults who learn together through well-designed outdoor play-based activities.
The company revealed that, with the new funding, Tinkergarten plans to invest in its supporting technology, enhance the learning experiences of young children and their parents, and recruit additional group leaders to bring the play-based learning model to a more diverse range of families.
