Safe food company The Safe + Fair Food Company Secures $10 Million

Consumer startup The Safe + Fair Food Company announced it has raised $10 million in Series C financing. Two investors contributed to the round, including Acre Venture Partners.

The Safe + Fair Food Company was founded by two friends, Dave Leyrer and Pete Najarian, whose children have serious food allergies. The company’s mission is to improve the lives of people with food allergies, as well as the lives of their families, friends, and communities. Leyrer and Najarian were frustrated with the state of allergy-safe food – expensive, hard to find, and generally lacking in taste – and were also aware that the community of people with food allergies doubles every 10 years.

The Safe + Fair Food Company started with a single brand, Skeeter Nut Free, and it continues to execute its vision by creating and acquiring great brands and products that share the core attributes of being Safe + Fair. The company recently acquired Mama Jess Organics, and it has a near-in innovation pipeline that includes a variety of snacks and simple meal solutions to further the mission of making it easy and fun for people with food allergies to be safe.
