Mobile shopping app Packagd Raises $6 Million

Mobile shopping startup Packagd announced it has raised $6 million in Series A financing. Three investors participated in the round, among them Forerunner Ventures and GV.

Packagd is a series of apps that offers a new mobile shopping experience. The apps curate a wide array of unboxing and product review videos that creators have uploaded to YouTube, and assembles them in a way that simulates the kind of live video programming pioneered by the likes of QVC and HSN. Packagd was founded by Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers general partner Eric Feng, a serial entrepreneur who has also served as CTO of companies like Hulu and Flipboard.

In its announcement, the company said the platform will expand into additional retail verticals, starting with beauty and toys apps launching later this year.
