Kid classes marketplace Outschool Raises $1.4 Million

Edtech startup Outschool announced it has raised $1.4 million in seed financing. Seven investors participated in the round: Collaborative Fund, Sesame Ventures, Y Combinator, SV Angel, FundersClub, Spectrum 28, and Learn Capital Venture Partners.

Outschool is a community marketplace of classes for kids. The company provides unique online classes from hundreds of independent teachers that are conducted via group video chat. The format aims to offer a level of accessibility, collaboration, and personalization that is unmatched by other online or offline educational options.

According to the company, it will use the new investment to expand its online destination, which currently offers more than 1,000 unique classes, at prices ranging from as little as $5 for a one-time class to hundreds of dollars for semester-long courses.
