Notion just closed $10 million in Series A financing. Five investors participated in the round, including Draper Nexus, Translink Capital, XL Innovate, and Mesh Ventures.
Notion is an all-in-one sensor for simplified home monitoring and security. The company’s single sensor can detect doors and windows opening, water leaks, smoke alarms sounding, lights being left on, temperature of rooms, gun safes or liquor cabinets being accessed, and even the amount of fuel remaining in a propane tank. The device, which is the size of a couple of poker chips piled on top of each other, can be can be easily installed by users and has a two-year battery life.
Notion, which has partnered with three of the country’s top five home insurance providers to offer a cost-effective loss mitigation system and home telematics solution, said it will use the new funding to expand existing partnerships and pursue new relationships with leading property insurers. The capital will also support product development and manufacturing, increased marketing efforts, and critical hires across the company’s engineering, data science and marketing departments.
