Seattle-based VICIS is developing new football helmet technology that aims significantly to reduce impact force for football players. The company was spun out of the University of Washington and has worked with athletes, neurosurgeons, and engineers to create a helmet called the ZERO1, which uses multiple layers that work together to mitigate collision impact from multiple directions. The company’s mission is to use its expertise in medicine and engineering to protect young athletes.
