Splunk Acquires Rocana for Undisclosed Sum
Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLK), a multinational corporation that produces software for searching, monitoring and analyzing machine-generated big data, today announced that it has acquired selected assets of Rocana, Inc., a privately held technology company that created analytics solutions for the IT market. Under the terms of the agreement, Splunk has purchased technology and intellectual property assets of Rocana for an undisclosed amount. A number of technical employees from Rocana will also be joining Splunk as part of the transaction, which was funded with cash.
“Insights from machine data are the lifeblood for organizations seeking to better monitor, investigate and understand their IT and security environments at scale,” said Richard Campione, chief product officer of Splunk. “Adding Rocana’s team demonstrates Splunk’s commitment to innovate — through a build, buy, and partner approach — as we better serve our customers and partners around the world.”
Rocana was founded in 2014. It aims to give technology leaders total operational visibility, eliminating the boundaries of legacy IT monitoring and empowering technologists to lead digital transformation. Rocana Ops captures and analyzes data from all sources, keeping it online and available for instant access. By combining event data warehouse capabilities with advanced machine learning, Rocana Ops offers technologists the ability to see emerging issues anywhere in the environment, to minimize security risks, and to surface opportunities for innovation. The company had previously raised more than $19 million from GV and General Catalyst.
