Mobile startup SafeTrek announced the completion of $3.2 million in seed financing. Four investors contributed to the round: Cultivation Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Maveron, and Aspect Ventures.

SafeTrek is a mobile application that aims to bridge the gap between doing nothing and calling 911. SafeTrek allows users  in unsafe situations proactively to protect themselves without the commitment of calling 911. The way SafeTrek works is simple: If users feel unsafe, they can simply launch the app and hold their thumbs down on the safe button. When they are safe, they can release their thumbs and type in unique four-digit PIN numbers. If the situation turns for the worse and they decide they need help, they can release their thumbs and not type in the PIN, in which case local police will be notified of users’ location, name, and emergency.
