Consumer startup Universal Standard announced it has raised a new round of financing. Two investors contributed to the round, including Red Sea Ventures.

Universal Standard is a size-inclusive fashion brand for women who wear sizes 10 to 28. The clothing company has pioneered the concept of “Universal Fit Liberty,” or UFL. If for any reason purchased clothing no longer fits, the company will exchange and replace it for free for up to one year with a new size. The returned clothing is laundered and donated across a number of charities supporting women in need.

“We’ve created this concept because women deserve to live their lives without feeling bullied by their size,” explained co-founder Alexandra Waldman in an interview with Today.com. “They shouldn’t feel like they’ve shackled their self-esteem to a future self that may or may not come into being. People should feel free to get the clothes that fit them and their lives in real time.”

In its announcement, the company said the infusion of seed funding will allow Universal Standard to produce additional clothing to meet the demand from its growing customer base.
