Electronics startup Molekule announced it has raised $10.1 million in Series A financing. Four investors contributed to the round: Crosslink Capital, SoftTech VC, Translink Capital, and Foxconn Technology Group.

Molekule, previously known as Transformair, is a San Francisco-based science and clean air company born of a father’s desire to alleviate his son’s debilitating asthma and allergy symptoms. While current air purifiers catch pollutants in filters, Molekule uses nanotechnology to break down and completely eliminate pollutants on a molecular level. It fully eradicates pollutants instead of simply trapping them, so that nothing builds up on filters. It also destroys pollutants regardless of their size, including those that are a thousand times smaller than what high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) can collect.

According to the company, the round will be used to scale production, expand the team, and build out the product pipeline. Molekule is also announcing the device’s availability to the general public.
